There are photoshoots and then there are moments that remind you how special it feels to be on the other side of the camera. As a photographer, I am used to capturing other people’s stories, so creating my own self-portrait for Modern Luxury Scottsdale’s Dynamic Women feature was a fun and meaningful change of perspective.
A Different Perspective on Telling My Story
For years, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing people and stories for Modern Luxury Scottsdale. This time, I had the opportunity to step in front of the lens and share a little more of my own journey. It was a refreshing experience to approach a portrait with the same care and creative intention I bring to every client’s session.
From Behind the Camera to the Feature
Photography has always been about more than creating a beautiful image for me. It’s about capturing personality, confidence, and the details that make each person’s story unique. Creating a self-portrait for the Dynamic Women feature gave me the chance to explore those ideas from a different perspective and reflect on the work and experiences that have shaped my career.
Celebrating Women Making Their Mark
Being included alongside so many inspiring women making a difference in Scottsdale and beyond made this recognition especially meaningful. I felt incredibly grateful to have my story shared in a publication I’ve enjoyed working with over the years. A heartfelt thank-you to Heather Hernandez and Kelly Persellin for including me and for making the experience so special.
Why This Moment Meant So Much
As photographers, we’re often focused on helping others feel comfortable, confident, and seen. Stepping in front of the camera reminded me how meaningful it can be to pause and tell our own stories, too. It was a lovely reminder of why I love what I do and why authentic portraits will always hold a special place in my heart.
I’m proud to have been part of Modern Luxury Scottsdale’s Dynamic Women feature, and I’m grateful for the creative relationships I’ve built along the way. Most of all, I’m reminded that every story deserves to be told including the one behind the lens.
