Here are photoshoots and then there are the ones that leave you smiling long after you’ve packed up your camera. Photographing Ashley Adams for her feature in Modern Luxury Interiors was one of those days. From the moment we started, her quick wit, infectious energy and genuine passion for design made every frame feel effortless.
A Designer Who Brings Warmth to Every Space
Ashley Adams, the creative force behind Modern Dwelling Design, has a gift for creating interiors that feel sophisticated, welcoming, and deeply personal. Just like the homes she designs, Ashley has a way of making everyone around her feel comfortable.
That authenticity is what I wanted to capture throughout our editorial branding session. While beautiful interiors naturally played an important role, I knew the real story was Ashley herself—the personality, confidence, and creativity that inspire every project she takes on.
Creating Images Worthy of Modern Luxury Interiors
This session was created to accompany Ashley’s feature in Modern Luxury Interiors, so every image needed to feel polished, elevated, and editorial while still remaining true to who she is.
Rather than relying on overly posed moments, I focused on capturing natural expressions, genuine movement, and the confidence that comes from someone who truly loves what they do. Those authentic moments always become my favorite photographs because they tell a story far beyond a beautiful portrait.
The Best Creative Director Had Four Paws
Every memorable session has its unexpected highlight, and this one belonged to Maya.
Ashley brought along Maya, her incredibly sweet doodle, who quickly became the unofficial creative director for the day. Between setups, Maya kept everyone laughing, happily wandered through the studio, and reminded us that the best moments often happen in between the planned ones. She added so much warmth and personality to the session that it simply wouldn’t have been the same without her.
Photographing the Person Behind the Design
One of the things I love most about branding and editorial photography is getting to showcase the human story behind a successful business.
Ashley creates beautiful environments for her clients, but what truly sets her apart is the energy she brings into every room. Her humor, kindness, and enthusiasm are impossible to miss, and capturing those qualities felt just as important as photographing the elegant aesthetic her work is known for. When someone’s personality shines through their images, people immediately feel connected before they’ve even had a conversation.
