There are photoshoots and then there are moments that remind you exactly why you love what you do. Photographing the incredible team at Candelaria Design is always one of those experiences. Every time we work together, I’m reminded that the most beautiful architecture is made possible by the passionate people standing behind it.

After decades of shaping extraordinary homes, Candelaria Design continues to set the standard for timeless residential architecture in Scottsdale and across the country. Their work is instantly recognizable for its elegance, attention to detail and ability to create spaces that feel both luxurious and deeply personal.
Working with a team whose creativity has influenced so many remarkable homes is always an honor. From the moment we arrived, there was an energy of collaboration, genuine friendship and pride in the work they create together. Those are the qualities I wanted every photograph to reflect.
Creating Portraits That Feel as Authentic as Their Work
This session wasn’t simply about updating team photographs. It was about telling the story of the people behind one of Arizona’s most respected architectural firms.Photographing the team in front of one of their beautifully designed estates gave us the perfect backdrop.
The architecture naturally complemented their brand, while the relaxed outdoor setting allowed everyone’s personalities and connections to shine through. Rather than creating overly formal portraits, I focused on capturing authentic moments that felt approachable, confident and true to who they are.
Finding the Unexpected Moments
One of my favorite parts of every session is discovering something unexpected, and this shoot certainly delivered.
We began outdoors, surrounded by incredible architecture and warm afternoon light. Just when I thought the location couldn’t get any better, we made our way downstairs to a hidden bowling alley and private bar tucked beneath the home.
It was such a memorable surprise and instantly changed the energy of the session. The relaxed atmosphere allowed everyone to have fun together, creating images filled with genuine laughter and natural interaction that perfectly balanced the polished portraits we had created earlier.
Those unexpected moments are often the photographs that clients treasure most because they capture something real.
Photographing the People Behind the Vision
One of the things I enjoy most about corporate photography is bringing forward personality, connection, and the spirit behind the work. Every successful company has a story, but that story always begins with people.
Spending time with Mark Candelaria, Tiffany Candelaria, Evelyn Jung, Tim Mathewson, and the entire Candelaria Design team reminded me how much collaboration goes into creating exceptional design. Their trust throughout the session allowed me to focus on genuine expressions, natural interactions, and the relationships that make their team so special.
